English: Robin's pincushion on dog rose. These bundles of seemingly fibrous growths are very appropriately named "Robin's pincushion". Quite a common occurrence and often to be found on dog roses, they are caused by the larvae of the gall wasp (Diplolepis rosae) that live in their hardened centre. These galls can reach a diameter of up to 25 centimetres; they turn into a reddish hue, nearing maturity in autumn. See > 887920 and 559125 for other examples. For a wider view of the location see > 1012401 and 1012397.
