Deutsch: Das von Hans Leitermann entworfene Wappen des Landkreises Mainz-Bingen wurde am 6. Mai 1970 vom rheinland-pfälzischen Innenministerium verliehen. Das Rad steht für das ehemalige Fürstbistum Mainz, der Löwe für die kurpfälzischen Gebiete des Kreises und der Adler weist auf die Reichsgüter bei Ingelheim, Oppenheim und Nierstein hin.
English: The arms were officially granted on May 6, 1970. The arms show the symbols of the former rulers of the district The arms combine symbols from the two older arms of Mainz and Bingen district and show the three main historical rulers in the area, the Imperial eagle, the wheel of the State of Mainz and the lion of the Palatinate. |
