English: Bust of Eubouleus. Marble. Found at Eleusis. The bust depicts the mythical Eleusinian chthonic hero Eubouleus, brother of Triptolemos. Eubouleus is associated with the mystery cult at Eleusis. According to tradition, he was a swineherd. When Persephone was abducted by Plouton, he was grazing his herd near the point where the earth opened to receive the god's chariot and a few of his pigs fell into the chasm. This episode of the myths is related to the practice of throwing pigs into subterranean chasms during the festival of the Skirophoria. About 330-320 BC.
